Meet Til Kerth, a GoodVision team member whose background in optometry and passion for simple, effective solutions makes him a natural fit for the mission. Based in Europe, Til brings expertise in quality assurance and CE certification, a keen eye for cross-cultural collaboration, and a gift for capturing the work through photography.
We caught up with Til for a quick Q&A to learn what drives him, what moves him, and what he’s currently baking:
Q: What excites and inspires you most about GoodVision’s mission?
A: “Without my own glasses, I could barely get through everyday life – so the idea that you can change someone’s life with simple methods and a few brilliant inventions is something I can very much relate to. You don’t need rocket science or overengineered gadgets to perform a life-changing eye test.
That minimalist yet highly efficient system of GoodVision is something I find deeply inspiring – and honestly, a principle I try to apply to many areas of my life.“
Q: Is there a moment or story from your work with GoodVision that reminds you of the impact we are making?
A: “When people talk about impact, they usually picture the moment someone puts on glasses for the first time. And those moments are wonderful. But what moves me just as much is the impact created through local employment and training. Many of our team members come from disadvantaged backgrounds with limited opportunities – and the work GoodVision provides enables them to lead self-determined lives. Seeing the dedication with which they carry out their work and live and breathe the mission every day – that’s something that really stays with me.“
Q: What keeps you inspired to support this work?
A: “The idea behind the mission – the desire to improve lives, beyond just the glasses. There are countless ways to put that into practice, and I genuinely enjoy finding simple, creative solutions using modern technology. Every success, whether big or small, is a real motivator. The work never feels finished, and that’s what keeps it interesting.“
Q: What are the strengths, skills, and experiences that you bring to GoodVision to advance our mission?
A: “My background is in optometry, and I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of eye care and technology – which makes GoodVision a natural fit. That combination also helps me navigate our quality assurance system and the regulatory requirements of our CE certification under EU law. I care about clear communication and making collaboration work across cultures and languages. And whenever I visit one of our programm countries, I try to document what we do through photography – because some stories are better told in pictures.“
Q: What’s a fun fact people might not know about you?
A: “I’m someone who enjoys the simple things in life and loves trying new things. At the moment, sourdough baking has my full attention. And somewhere along the way, I’ve spent more time than I’d like to admit thinking through the concept for a high-quality sandwich shop. One day, maybe. For now, GoodVision keeps me busy enough.”
Q: What’s a favorite book, podcast, or quote that inspires you?
A: “There’s a quote often attributed to Einstein: ‘The purest form of insanity is to leave everything as it is and still hope that something will change.’ I come back to it regularly – mostly because I need to.”
