For Immediate Release
[NEWTON, MA] – GoodVision USA is proud to announce a new partnership with the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, launching a transformative initiative to bring essential eye care services to underserved rural communities across Nepal.
Through this collaboration, GoodVision USA is providing critical funding and support to help address one of the most common yet overlooked causes of visual impairment—uncorrected refractive errors. With high-quality, affordable GoodVision glasses delivered directly to those in need, the program offers immediate and lasting improvements in vision, enabling individuals to thrive in school, at work, and in the community.
“Nepal faces unique challenges in eye care delivery due to its mountainous terrain and extremely limited availability of health resources,” noted Antje Christ, GoodVision’s Regional Director for Asia. “More than 40% of the rural population lack access to basic eye services. Although refractive error is the leading cause of visual impairment in Nepal, it’s one of the most easily treatable conditions with proper eyeglasses. Our mission directly addresses this gap.”
In addition to vision correction, the initiative will support community-based eye health education and help strengthen Nepal’s capacity to deliver long-term, sustainable care. With dedicated leadership from GoodVision Nepal and the support of Tilganga’s clinical excellence, the project is already making strides toward building healthier, more empowered communities.
“There are great challenges ahead of us, but also countless opportunities to change lives,” said Prativa Devkota, Program Manager at GoodVision Nepal. “We’re fully committed to making this expansion a success.”
Together, GoodVision USA and Tilganga share a commitment to transforming lives through sight. This partnership marks an exciting expansion of GoodVision’s global footprint, building on successful programs in countries across Asia, Africa and South America. By extending our reach into Nepal, we’re continuing our mission to deliver sustainable, high-quality vision care to underserved communities around the world.
